My name is Balázs Budai and I am a seasoned film production and post-production professional, specialising as a Digital Imaging Technician (DIT).
what I do
My work spans narrative projects for leading studios and high-profile commercials for renowned international brands. On set, I collaborate closely with Directors of Photography, providing essential support through cutting-edge technologies and my advanced color-critical and color-accurate equipment.
I have strong proficiency in live color grading and fine-tuning camera and recording settings, ensuring the DP’s creative vision is preserved and that visual quality meets the highest standards. I’m skilled in both SDR and HDR workflows, delivering grading in various color spaces, including the ACES framework for color encoding.
Before focusing on my DIT work, I gained valuable experience as an editor and later as a post-production supervisor, working on a variety of projects, including commercials, music videos, TV shows, immersive experiences, and feature films, one of which premiered at the 66th Berlinale International Film Festival.
My cutting room experience includes working with Academy Award winner Joe Walker as an assistant editor on Blade Runner 2049 and later as the assistant VFX editor on Dune, where I created preliminary VFX comps during production. This has given me a solid foundation in VFX and compositing.
My diverse post-production background allows me to bridge the gap between production and post, facilitating smooth workflows for editorial and VFX teams while minimizing errors. Throughout my career, I have worked on everything from blockbuster movies to small independent films, and I’m confident in my ability to scale my expertise to excel in all kinds of projects.
I have securely safeguarded data for hundreds of productions with zero data loss, using the most secure methods. With my rushes solutions, I deliver metadata and color-accurate rushes with a fast turnaround, accommodating various specifications and delivery methods.
As a friendly and calm team player with strong interpersonal skills, I am passionate about storytelling, creative decision-making, and the technologies involved in image capture and processing.
